The main action is based on a big-city hospital where we see the story through the eyes of a young woman named Alina. All she’s focused on in her life is her job as heart transplant surgeon. The story is divided into two arcs: first, that begins with her 35th birthday, when she’s a rising star as transplant surgeon and the second one, that begins with her 39th birthday when she suddenly realizes that despite her talents, she’s being done out of the first place. Does someone who’s so concentrated on her work and balancing on the life and death scale can have a private life?
